So, Michelle Obama has pissed off FOX News and the right wing with her comment:
For the first time in my adult life, I'm really proud of this country.
Now, I'm 53 (as of tomorrow), and so my adult life pretty much parallels Michelle Obama's.
So here's what I want to know.
In your adult life, when have you been proud of this country?
Like Michelle, who may have said it badly, but was completely justified in her comment, I have been proud of my country in my adult life.
Here's when:
Neil Armstrong walks on the moon (okay, maybe not my adult life, but I remember it like it was yesterday)
The impeachment of Nixon
When Jimmy Carter was elected
The 1980 hockey win over the USSR
We launched the Hubble space telescope
We donated millions of dollars for aid in Biafra, Haiti, and for the Indonesian tsunami.
I'm sure there are others, but I think they've been few and far between in my adult life. Mostly, I remember being disappointed.
So, please, Kossacks, share those moments when you've been really, really proud to be an American.
